As i was enjoying my walk in Downtown El Paso this homeless man somehow caught my attention. I saw this man 1 hour earlier, roaming around the Plaza area. Before i took this photo. After I took the picture, I sat on a bench across the street from him. Still in my sight. The man leaned up a little bit and coughed. As soon as he coughed, he was holding his chest in a rough state. Then slowly layed down. I got up and walked to my car which was a couple blocks aways. I was driving toward the location where I took the picture of the homeless man. Right when I cruised back in the location, there was a police car and an ambulance right where the man was sleeping on the bench. I took this picture seconds right before this man died right before my eyes. And not even knowing it. He died of a heart attack. Rest in Peace Sir.
Well that pretty well sucks. Removed from judging just because you told the story of the image? That's ridiculous. In any case, thnx for sharing the experience of what happened here with the sympathetic among us who can appreciate a moment of real humanity. Unlike some people at DA, apparently.
i want to say it is beautiful, but it feels like the wrong word. you immortalized someone that doesn't even get recognized and that in itself is why cameras were invented. this is an incredibly touching photograph and personally my favorite among the entries in this contest. good luck. it is like looking at a ghost.
I'm speechless.... and my eyes are watery
